FOLSOM STREET is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that has been creating unparallelled leather, kink, and alternative sexuality events centering consent and self expression since 1984. We value sexual liberation, racial and gender equity, and service to the community. In addition to our year-round Community Center in SOMA, we produce the largest single day festival in Northern California and the WORLD’s largest showcase of products, arts, crafts, and performance featuring the rich and diverse alt-sex communities. Our events and center reach more than 285,000 people yearly, and last year’s Folsom Street Fair spanned 14 blocks with more than 250,000 attendees. VISITORS at our yearly events give a big boost to local businesses such as bars, cafes, retail stores, and restaurants, as well as local leather, sexuality focused, and LGBTQ2S+ businesses. As we’ve grown over the years we have created and maintained an exceptional level of community engagement and volunteer support. Our record attendance in 2024, along with our Community Center has allowed us to reach an even larger audience than in years past.

Our events raise funds to support both the year-round space for our communities to gather, and our partnership with other nonprofits serving our community. We have raised more than $8 million since our inception in 1984. We’ve built relationships with hundreds of nonprofits and are transforming the way that we engage and work collectively.

The services we offer since founding our center in 2021 include ongoing educational, social, arts and cultural events, serving groups and organizations that otherwise are being priced out of San Francisco. Each partnership is selected for the greatest positive impact.
